RSD is an inclusive environment where children who are deaf and hard-of-hearing have access to an extraordinary New York State Regents level education, while their families can interface with professionals, who maintain as their central focus, the desire to help each child build a successful future.
Every RSD student's educational program includes the development of spoken and written English as well as American Sign Language, giving the student direct access to communication with their teachers, staff and their peers.
RSD offers a diverse array of opportunities to students with a variety of needs. From addressing varying levels of hearing to recognizing differing career and occupational goals in life after graduation, students can explore and grow at their own pace and on their own path.
We believe it is important that all students and families be given the opportunity to gain awareness and understanding of Deafness, Deaf and Hearing Cultures and Deaf Heritage.
We incorporate the study of Deaf Culture and Deaf Heritage through an array of experiences including actually meeting and learning from successful Deaf role models.
To learn more about RSD or to arrange some time to speak to a faculty member or student, call us at 544-1240 (Voice/TTY). We look forward to meeting you and helping you and your family determine if RSD is right for you.
