NDIAA Selects RSD Wildcats for National Soccer Honors 12/11/17
RSD Earns 8-Man Team and Player of-the-Year Accolades

Rochester School for the Deaf (RSD) Varsity Soccer Wildcats (10-5-3), champions of their 2017 Homecoming Soccer Tournament and 2nd-place finishers in the 2017 Division Two ESDAA Soccer Championship Tournament, have been named 8-Man Soccer Team of-the-Year by the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association (NDIAA) for 2017.

In 2013 Rochester was named National Soccer Co-Team of-the-Year with Lexington School for the Deaf and National Soccer Team of-the-Year in: 2012, 2006 and 2005, 2000, 1998 and 1995.

The NDIAA also named RSD senior soccer standout Levi Ruper, of Rochester, 8-Man Soccer Player of-the-Year.

Since 1993, eleven RSD students have earned National Soccer Player of-the-Year honors, of which two students were named twice.

NDIAA Fall Sports Selections Committee Chairperson and RSD alumnus Christopher Hamilton, ’90, Athletic Director at Texas School for the Deaf, in Austin, said of the selection process: “NDIAA is thrilled to announce the results of our 11th annual Fall Sports Selections: National Champions, Teams and Players of the Year and Coach of the Year. The committee spent many hours to ensure that we have chosen the true winners in each sport.”

NDIAA serves as a leading organization for information regarding Deaf interscholastic sports. It encourages participation in order to develop life-long learners that exhibit sportsmanship, character and leadership. NDIAA provides resources and training opportunities that include professional development, networking and collaboration. The organization also recognizes the achievement of athletes, coaches, teams and athletic administrators.
