RSD Varsity Soccer Selected Team of-the-Year

Wednesday, October 26, 2016: DeafDigest Sports, one of the nations’ leading sources for interscholastic, collegiate and professional sports and athletics news and information regarding competitive Deaf and hard of hearing athletes, has, for the first-time ever, named the Rochester School for the Deaf Varsity Soccer Team as the 8-Man High School Soccer Team of-the-Year.

This high honor comes as the Wildcats captured the Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletic Association (ESDAA) Division Two Soccer Championship on Saturday, October 22nd by handily defeating soccer teams from rival schools for the deaf competing in the RSD Homecoming ESDAA D-II Soccer Tournament, October 21-22, in Rochester.

Prior to the ESDAA tournament, RSD finished the Western New York Christian Athletic Association season in 3rd-place on home turf on October 20th bowing to the undefeated Rochester Rapids.

In the ESDAA D-II Soccer Tournament the Wildcats opened with a 3-0 win over the combined team of Pennsylvania and Millneck Manor Schools for the Deaf. In their second Friday match, RSD easily handled West Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind, 6-0.

The Wildcats closed out the ESDAA D-II Soccer Tournament with dual wins over St. Mary’s School for the Deaf, 3-1 and the combined Pennsylvania and Millneck team 5-1 for the tourney crown; a record 4th championship in a row.

RSD Varsity Soccer finished its 2016 season with 14 wins and 5 losses. Against schools for the deaf RSD went undefeated with 7 wins and no losses.
