Wildcat Girls Defend ESDAA Bball Crown

Rochester Earns 3rd in-a-row ESDAA Girls Basketball Championship

The 2014-2015 Rochester School for the Deaf girls’ varsity basketball team successfully defended their Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletic Association (ESDAA) Division Two Basketball Championship for a third year in-a-row.

The girls from Rochester traveled to Buffalo, NY, and St. Mary’s School for the Deaf which hosted the ESDAA Girls’ Division Two Basketball Tournament, February 6-8, 2015.

RSD entered the tournament as first-seed with an automatic first-round Bye. The Wildcats faced New York State JV champion Mt. Mercy in a game that would not be counted in the ESDAA tournament. Rochester lost to Mt. Mercy, 36-19.

On the road to the ESDAA championship RSD cruised past New York State School for the Deaf, 46-26.

In the championship game the Wildcats faced the girls from Delaware School for the Deaf, the fastest team in the tournament. Rochester was in good control of the game from first tip-off to the final buzzer. All RSD players made significant contributions on offense and defense. In the end, RSD prevailed over Delaware, 37-31.
